FYI all our recipes are relatively high in calories, dairy- free (due to lactose intolerance) and do not mix milk and meat products.

If doing chemo, optional oils should probably not be added unless necessary since they may exacerbate nausea. Acidic foods such as tomatoes should also be avoided.

Liquid in food may be substituted freely in recipes for example milk may be added instead of soy milk, cream instead of soy creamer.  For greater ease in liquefying use broth or clearer juices.

 
   

 

A quick note on sugar:  There are some theories about cancer and sugar on the web.  Please research it and make your own decisions. You can easily use a sugar substitute. We used real sugar in the recipes below for the chemotherapy phase of treatment with the theory that if sugar did encourage the rapidity of cancer cell growth and division, that was the best thing to do during chemo. (Chemo is targeted at fast growing cells.)  Post-chemo we will reduce excess sugars. 

Decadent Chocolate Protein Drink

2 Servings

  • 4 cups of Vanilla Rice Milk (4 Cups of Soymilk/Milk with ½ Teaspoon of Vanilla)
  • 3 Tablespoons of Trader Joes Sipping Chocolate (or substitute 2 Tablespoons of Cocoa and 3 Tablespoons of Sugar)
  • Optional: 8 Heaping Tablespoons of Trader Joe’s Soy Protein Powder

Heat one cup of rice milk in microwave for 1 minute or until warm.  Put warm milk in the processor and add chocolate mixture.  Process for 1 minute or until well-blended.  Add the rest of the rice milk and the soy protein powder and process for 2 minutes or until completely blended and smooth.

Crème de Carrot/Zucchini (or Banana) Bread

1 serving 

  • 1 cup of Trader Joes’ Carrot/Zucchini Bread (or any other bread) crumbled
  • ½ pint Soy Creamer

Place crumbled bread in processor and process for 3 minutes.  Gently use spatula to move bread to a bowl and add creamer.  Work the mixture gently with a fork to integrate cake and cream as much as possible.  Use a spatula to push the mixture through a sieve and serve warm.

Cherry Pie

1 Serving

  • 14.5 oz can of red tart pitted cherries in water
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon of almond extract
  • Optional: 1 drop of red food coloring

Easy and Delicious Pumpkin Pie

1.5 Servings

  • 15 oz can of pumpkin (try Trader Joe’s Organic Pumpkin)
  • 1 pint of soy milk creamer
  • ½ cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Place pumpkin in processor.  Add all dry ingredients and process for 1 minute or until completely blended.  Add 1 cup of soy creamer and pulse about 6 times until well-mixed.

Winter Peach Dessert

1 Serving

  • 15 oz can of peaches in juice
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • ½ pint of soy creamer
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Place peaches and juice in processor and process until finely textured.  Add spices and process until well blended.  Stir in creamer and oil is desired.
